Closing your account with us

Whether you're moving your banking elsewhere or simply tidying up accounts that you no longer use, you can now request to close your account online.

If you're closing an account with us due to being dissatisfied with our service, we'd prefer to know so that we can try to put things right. 

How to close your account online

    Transfer your remaining balance

    If the account is overdrawn or has charges outstanding...
    Please transfer sufficient funds into the account to cover the outstanding balance.

    If the account has a remaining balance...
    We can close your account quicker if you arrange a transfer of the remaining credit balance.

    You can make a payment to any UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man Bank account using our Mobile app or Online Banking service.

    Mobile app and Online Banking payment limits apply. There are different payment limits depending on which type of customer you are and the type of payment you are making.

    Complete our account closure form

    Formally request the closure of your account by completing our short online account closure form.

    We'll contact you if we need anything else

    In some instances we'll need to confirm your identity before closing your account. We'll contact you, using the number we have on record, if we need any additional information to proceed with closing your account.

Other ways to close your account

You can also let us know you wish to close your account by completing our paper account closure form, in writing or in one of our local branches.

Request to close your account online

To speed up your request to close your account, we need to run through some quick questions with you. They'll only take a few minutes.

Which type of account do you want to close?
Please tell us if the account you want to close is a personal or business account.
Do you have a credit balance?
Please tell us if you currently have any money in the account you are closing.
Do you use the Mobile App or Online Banking?
Please tell us if you already bank online with us by using either our Mobile app or Online Banking service.

Transferring your remaining balance

We can close your account quicker if you arrange a transfer of the remaining credit balance.

As you are an existing Mobile app / Online Banking customer, you can make a payment to any UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man Bank account today.

By proceeding you confirm that you have transferred any remaining funds to another account, and the balance in the account being closed is now nil.
