Using your debit card

What is a debit card?

Your debit card lets you spend and withdraw money straight from your bank account. You can use it to:

  • take out money at a cash machine
  • pay for goods and services online, by phone or in shops
  • make contactless payments for purchases up to £100

What is a virtual card?

A virtual card is a digital card that you can create and manage using our mobile app. Each card has its own unique details, offering a secure alternative to carrying a physical card.

You can use your virtual card for online shopping, over the phone or to make contactless payments. It's linked to your account, just like your physical card, so payments will be debited from your balance.

Information Message

Available to existing holders of eligible current accounts who are registered for mobile banking and biometrics. Maximum 2 active virtual debit cards per account.
