Using Telephone banking

Our Telephone banking team can help you with your everyday banking needs including:

  • checking your balance
  • making transfers or payments

Before you call, make sure you’re registered for telephone or online banking. You'll need to have your customer number, PIN and password to hand when you call.

How to register for Telephone banking

If you’re already registered for online banking, you’re automatically registered for Telephone banking too.

If you haven't yet opened an account with us, you'll be offered the option to sign up for online and Telephone banking during the account opening process.

If you are an existing customer, the quickest way to get set up for Telephone banking is to register online for online banking.

What is emergency cash?

Emergency cash lets you withdraw money from an ATM if your debit card is lost or stolen.

How would I get a code?

  • Call Telephone banking and choose the option to speak to a customer adviser.
  • The adviser will cancel your card and ask some security questions.
  • If possible, the adviser will generate an Emergency cash code for you.

How much can I withdraw?

  • If you are registered for online or Telephone Banking, you can withdraw up to £300.
  • If you are not registered, you can still withdraw up to £40.
  • You must have at least £20 in your account to use the service.

How would I use the code?

  • The adviser will give you a 6‑digit code.
  • Enter this code at any NatWest International, NatWest, RBS, Isle of Man Bank, Ulster Bank or Tesco Bank ATM.
  • The code is valid for 3 hours.
