Contactless Payment Limits and Settings

You can spend up to £100 in a single contactless card transaction. If your purchase exceeds this amount, you can still complete the payment using chip and PIN.

You can also manage your contactless card settings in the mobile banking app:

• Adjust your contactless limit: Increase or reduce it up to the maximum of £100.
• Freeze contactless payments: Use card payment controls to temporarily disable contactless functionality if needed.

*Please note: Some retailers may set lower contactless limits.

 

Security and Verification During Contactless Payments

There is no fixed limit to the number of contactless payments you can make. However, additional security checks may occasionally be required. When this happens, you’ll be asked to enter your PIN to confirm your identity. Simply use Chip and PIN as normal.

*Some services, such as Transport for London, may be exempt from these checks.
