How do I change or remove my Apple Pay default card on an iPhone or iPad?

After you add credit cards or debit cards to Wallet, you can change the default card or remove a card at any time. You can have up to 8 different cards on any device.

Change your Apple Pay default card

The first card you add to Wallet as your default card. To change your default card:

  1. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
  2. Tap 'Default Card'.
  3. Choose a new card.

Remove a card from Apple Pay

You can remove a card from Apple Pay at any time.

  1. Go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
  2. Tap the card that you want to remove.
  3. Tap 'Remove Card'.

Replace an existing card on Apple Pay

e.g. when your card is expiring and you have received your replacement card.

  1. Remove the old card from Apple Pay.
  2. Follow the instructions on How do I set up Apple Pay on my device?
