How do I send a payment on Pay Your Contacts?

Pay Your Contacts is a free service that lets you send money to someone in the UK without needing their account details, instead you can either pay them i) using their mobile number or ii) by sending them a secure payment link (Pay Your Contacts by Link). You must have available funds to send from your account (including any overdraft facility). There is a maximum daily payment limit of £250 which is separate from daily withdrawal and Get Cash limits.

i) If you are paying another NatWest Group (NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Ulster Bank North) customer who is registered for Pay Your Contacts, you can pay them using their mobile number. Payments made via this method will usually be instant but may take up to 2 hours, otherwise please contact us.

ii) If you are paying someone who is not a NatWest Group customer (NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Ulster Bank North) or isn’t registered for Pay Your Contacts, you can generate a secure payment link and send this to them via multiple messaging channels. The majority of transactions are completed instantly once the recipient has claimed the funds, however please allow for up to 2 hours once the recipient has accepted the payment. If not claimed after 24 hours, the payment link will expire.

You will need to register for Pay Your Contacts to receive funds directly into your Bank account linked to your mobile number, you can manage your registration anytime in your Mobile App, simply go to your profile and tap ‘Pay Your Contacts’.

If you have a joint personal account both parties can register for Pay Your Contacts as long as you each register with different mobile numbers.
