How do I use Apple Pay on Transport for London (TfL)?

How do I use Apple Pay on Transport for London (TfL)?

You can use Apple Pay to pay as you go across all Transport for London services, including the Underground, buses and trams.

Paying for journeys is easy using Apple Pay and works the same as using a contactless card. You just need to touch in at the start of your journey and touch out at the end on yellow card readers. Only touch in on buses and trams.

It's now even faster and easier to use this method. You no longer need to use Face ID or touch ID on iPhone and Apple Watch. Just tap it on the card reader and go.

How to set a default card for TfL journeys

On iPhone:

  • Open Settings and go to Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • Tap Express Travel Card and choose your card.
  • Confirm the card with Touch ID or Face ID.

On Apple Watch:

  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then go to Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • Tap Express Travel Card and choose your card.
  • Confirm the card on your Apple Watch with your passcode.

How to use

Once your card is set up as your Express Travel Card, just hold your iPhone or Apple Watch over the yellow card readers on TfL services. You won’t need to open Apple Wallet, wake your device or use Touch ID or Face ID.
