This could be an offline payment. Some retailers don’t process payments straight away so these will not appear in your pending transactions.

The payment will appear when the retailer processes it, usually within a couple of days. Examples of offline payments include payments made on flights, parking, toll roads and market stalls.

This could be an offline payment. Some retailers don’t process contactless payments straight away so these will not appear in your pending transactions.

The payment will appear when the retailer processes it, usually within a couple of days. Examples of retailers that process contactless payments offline include Transport for London where the amount is calculated overnight and will show the next day.

Some retailers like Pret a Manger also process contactless transactions offline.

Cheques go through a separate payment clearing cycle where the amount will not appear in your pending transactions. The cheque payment will usually start showing in your transactions within 5 working days. We are unable to process cheques in foreign currencies.

When using your debit card abroad the final payment may be different to the pending transaction amount because the exchange rate may have changed by the time the transaction was processed.

There may also be fees applied to the transaction.
