Transfer your money between currencies

There is no charge to convert money between currencies. Any costs are built into the agreed rate applied to the Foreign Exchange transfer, which includes our margin. The margin applied varies depending upon how much you want to trade.

This depends on the currency pairing. Some Foreign Exchange transfers will settle over your account straight away, whereas others may settle the next day, or even the day after that, for some Far East currencies.

These are known as a same day or a spot Foreign Exchange transfer.

• Same day transfer means the currency exchange will appear over your account that day
• Spot value transfer means the Foreign Exchange transfer settles over the account 2 working days after being booked

An indication rate is the rate the Bank provides when a request for a Foreign Exchange is first made. Due to the speed with which the currency markets move, the rate indicated is only applicable for around 60 seconds.

The weakness or strength of a currency can affect the buying/selling power of it. A weaker currency will yield a lower amount when converting into a stronger currency whereas a stronger currency will give a higher return when converting into a weaker currency.
