Changes to First Saver Account Terms

To make it easier for you to understand your First Saver account, we’ve simplified the wording in our Terms. These are the rules as to how your account works. These changes will take effect from 25 November 2019.

The updated Terms can be reviewed below, however we’ve highlighted the key changes here:

  • If the account is held in the name of a child, the money in the account is owned by the child (this is only an option when the child is over 7)
  • If the account is in the name of the adult on behalf of the child, the money in the account is owned by the adult

There are no other changes to the account. If you have any questions, please speak to your usual point of contact.

Apply for a First Saver account

Your application today will take around 15 minutes.

First Saver accounts can be opened on behalf of a child. If aged 7 or over the account can be held in the child's name only, with the consent of their parent or guardian.

You'll need to be 18 or over to open an account for a child under 16.
 

Enter your details in the application first, then complete the child's. Each section will be clearly marked with Parent/Guardian or Child to keep you right.

Complete the application with your personal details. You'll need to get your parent or guardian's approval before you submit your application.

 

After you've completed our online form we may need a bit more information to confirm your identity and validate your income. We’ll post you an application pack that details the next steps. 

Once received, you can provide these documents in one of two ways:


Bring them to your local branch

Once you've completed the online form today we'll ask you to book a short appointment at your local branch where we'll be happy to check your documents and have your application form waiting to be signed. 

This is the quickest way to open your account. 


Return them in the post

Within the next 7-10 working days you'll receive an application pack that details the next steps you need to take. 

Once received you can return your documents, along with the signed application pack, in the prepaid envelope provided, or drop it into your local branch.


To apply for this account you'll need to...

  • Be aged 18 or over if you're opening the account for a child under 16 or 
  • Be aged 7 to 16 if you're opening the account for yourself
  • Be resident in the Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Gibraltar
  • Be an existing customer with us if you are resident in Gibraltar


During the application we'll ask you for...

  • Your personal details (name, date of birth etc.)
  • Your address
  • Contact details (mobile number & email address)
  • The source of your funds & wealth




Do you reside outside of the Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Gibraltar?
