How do I pay cash and/or cheques in to my account?

  • Cash can be paid in ONLY by using a pre printed personalised paying in slip (Bank Giro Credit) as supplied by your Bank (NatWest, RBS International or Isle of Man Bank) - restrictions on the amount of cash that can be paid in may apply
  • Cheques can be paid in ONLY by using a pre printed personalised paying in slip (Bank Giro Credit) as supplied by your Bank (NatWest, RBS International or Isle of Man Bank)
  • Cash and cheques cannot be paid in on the same paying in slip - a separate one for each is required
  • Cash paid in will be limited to a maximum of 5,000 per customer in any one business day. If you wish to pay in more than this please contact your branch or Relationship Manager at least 24 hours before you wish to make the deposit.

How can I withdraw funds from my account and is there a limit?

  • The best way to withdraw funds from your account is by using your valid debit card, this way you can withdraw up to the available funds in your account.
  • Cash withdrawals will be limited to a maximum of 5,000 per customer in any one business day. If you wish to withdraw a larger sum please contact your branch or Relationship Manager at least 24 hours before you need to make the withdrawal.

How do I withdraw money if I don’t have a debit card or cheque book on my account (for example savings accounts)?

Cash withdrawals are only available using a valid debit card. We would recommend you talk to one of our advisers to explore our range of accounts that can provide a debit card. In an emergency please contact the bank and we will endeavour to arrange an alternative for you.

How soon will cash or cheques that I pay in show on my account and when will I have access to the funds?

  • Cash paid in to your account prior to 2.00pm will appear on your account by close of business the next working day (if paying in to a UK account, it will appear after midnight on the next working day). Cash paid in after the 2.00pm cut off will appear by close of business the following working day (for example if you pay in on Monday after 2pm funds will appear on your account by close of business Wednesday, or after midnight on Wednesday for UK accounts).
  • Cheques paid in to your account prior to 2.00pm will appear on your account by close of business the next working day as unavailable funds and then follow the usual clearing process, Cheques paid in after the 2.00pm cut off will appear by close of business the following working day as unavailable funds and then follow the usual clearing process (as per the example in the above bullet point).

These times may vary due to changes in the boat services and weather conditions.

What if I want to check my balance or make a payment or transfer?

Can I send written instructions to Guernsey branch and can I hand these in to the Post Office?

The Post Office will take any written bank instructions and send on to the Guernsey High Street Branch.

Will the Post Office staff have access to my financial information?

The Post Office will have access to name, account number and sort code only. No other information will be available to Post Office staff.
